The Workers’ Party (PT), the formation led by former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, recalled this Thursday in its electoral propaganda the admiration that the current head of state of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, says he feels for the “pedophile dictator” Alfredo Stroessner.

A video with excerpts from a tribute that ehe leader of the Brazilian extreme right surrendered to Stroessner (1912-2006) and that recalls the serious accusations of pedophilia against the Paraguayan dictator became the main piece of publicity in Lula’s electoral campaign this Thursday.
The video was reproduced on his own social networks by the progressive leader, who won the first round of the presidential elections in Brazil with 48.4% of the vote compared to 45.2% for Bolsonaro, and who is the favorite for the second return, scheduled for next October 30.
“The current president makes no effort to hide his admiration for one of the cruelest pedophiles in the world, by a dictator who abused and killed girls, which he buried in his own house. Why is Bolsonaro paying tribute to someone like that?” Lula asks in a message she posted along with her video on her Telegram account.

The narrator of the video assures that Stroessner, who ruled Paraguay with an iron fist between 1954 and 1989, He was “a bloodthirsty dictator known for being one of the biggest pedophiles in the world. He abused more than 1,600 girls. He killed them and buried the remains in his house”.
The narrator adds that Bolsonaro continues to express his admiration for the “pedophile dictator” before including an excerpt from a video of a public act last February at the Itaipu binational hydroelectric plant in which the far-right leader assures that “I am here to pay my tribute to our general Alfredo Stroessner.”

The PT decided to release the video a day after the firm Datafolha reported that the advantage that Lula has in the voting intention polls for the ballot dropped to only four percentage points, which shows both candidates in a technical tie.
According to the poll released the day before, the progressive leader has 49% of the intention to vote and the far-right 45%.
The PT adopted the strategy of associating Bolsonaro with pedophilia after the president claimed to have met some Venezuelan girls between 14 and 15 years old on the outskirts of Brasilia whom he asked to let him into his house after “I will paint a climate”, an expression that in Brazil defines a possible sexual interest.

The head of state apologized for having insinuated that the young Venezuelan refugees in Brasilia were prostitutes, but argued that his words were “misrepresented” by the opposition by accusing him of being a pedophile.
In an interview he gave to digital media on Tuesday, Lula stated that “Bolsonaro behaves like a pedophile.”
