In the midst of the parity discussion that the Government is carrying out with truckers, Kelly Olmos questioned the request for a 131% wage increase in the sector for this year, considering that said increase is “excessive.”
The new one labor minister He pointed out: “There are sectors that advance on the inflationary dynamics, they have to understand that it is not in solidarity with those who are left behind”; in this sense, Kelly Olmos He stressed that, from the Government, “We cannot generate an excessive level of adjustment that has an impact on the cost of living.”
Yes ok Kelly Olmos recognized that “The claims can be fair for the workers in that sector”, since “the worker deserves everything he can access and the rest, too”; it is necessary to “frame and ensure that workers recover their rights and have a decent life, but we must think about the general well-being. We all have to be responsible.”
“My opinion is that workers and businessmen have to negotiate,” he said. “The paritarias are something that the Peronist claims. We always respect that institution in the worst scenarios, but when these situations enter into a tension that exceeds social peace, we have instruments such as mandatory conciliation and the capacity for dialogue to resolve them”.
In this sense, in a dialogue for El Destape Radio, he maintained that the sector’s request “affects the inflationary dynamics.” The statements of the minister increase the tension in a negotiation that added another failure.
This, given that the union led by Hugo and Pablo Moyano rejected the 84% increase offered by the employers during the joint discussion. “We ask for a 131% increase, plus additional bonuses and a year-end bonus. If they offer more, we will discuss it in the Board of Directors, the delegates, but 84%, no”, said Pablo Moyano.
The union leader also warned that if there is no agreement next week, they could go on strike, “If they come with another ridiculous thing, we are going to start with the force measures next Wednesday”.
What is the joint discussion about?
After failing to reach an agreement at this Wednesday’s meeting, the joint discussion went to intermediate quarter and will resume next Wednesday, October 26, a day that will be key, since the union announced that they will make a general strike.
In this regard, the minister pointed out: “It seems to me that the blockade is an instance that is violent and that it cannot be something ordinary.”
