This Thursday, October 20, the Congress of Mayors met in the city of Montevideo.
In the first instance, the plenary received the director of the National Institute of Statistics, Diego Aboal, to learn details of the Census that will be implemented in 2023 and the various pilot plans that are being developed throughout the territory. Likewise, work was done on the eventual support that the departmental governments can offer in view of said instance.
On the other hand, the working group made up of the Congress of Mayors, the Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning, and the National Directorate of Firefighters; proposed changes to update the regulations governing wood construction. This proposal was approved unanimously.
A report was also made on the progress in the implementation of the Single National Driving Permit (PNUC). In turn, the Mayor of Rocha, Alejo Umpiérrez, reported on the proceedings at the UCLG Congress, on behalf of the Congress of Mayors.
Finally, a motion was approved for the Board of the Congress of Mayors to take steps before the Executive Branch, in order to work on the possibility of extending this edition of the solidarity journals until December 31, 2022. Also -after evaluation- the possibility of reissuing the program in the future will be studied.
