They agree to raise the Law of National Holidays to a second discussion

The Joint Commission for the Law Reform of National Holidays approved to raise the project to the Plenary of the National Assembly (AN), to be considered in second discussion and sanctioned definitively.

This decision was adopted at the ordinary meeting this Wednesday.

In this regard, the president of the Permanent Commission for Comprehensive Social Development, deputy Pedro Infante (PSUV/DC), specified that the last modification of the Law of National Holidays was in 1971 and only contains five patriotic dates, referred to a note of the National Assembly.

In this sense, he explained that after the query public for the reform on the Law of National Holidays intends to reach 20 national dates. These include the birth of Ezequiel Zamora, Simón Rodríguez, Youth Day and Federation Day.

The purpose of this project is the conservation of historical memory, the consolidation of revolutionary culture and the preservation of identity.

The National Holidays Law aims to preserve the country’s historical memory, identity and spiritual values, as highlighted by the president of the Permanent Commission for Culture and Recreation, deputy Cristóbal Jiménez (PSUV/National).

Jiménez indicated that among the approved dates, the birth of Doctor José Gregorio Hernández, the day of recognition of women’s public rights, the day that Simón Bolívar is awarded the title of El Libertador and December 15 as the day of participatory and protagonist democracy, among other memorable dates.

History, culture and national holidays

For deputy Gabriela Chacón, who was in the ordinary session, the report on the National Holidays Bill is a “document that exalts our history and culture of the country,” she said through her account on the social network Twitter.

During the parliamentary meeting, the president of the Historical Heritage Institute, Alexander Torres, stated that the legal regulations have 13 articles, two chapters and 20 founding dates.

He explained that “the norm constitutes an important historiographical and scientific advance because it reflects the complexity and diversity of Venezuelans that participated in the construction of a just and sovereign homeland.”

For her part, the coordinator of the Commission for the Reform of the Law of National Holidays, deputy Gabriela Chacón (PSUV/Miranda), affirmed that they will delve into history, to continue strengthening the value of Venezuela.
