Coronavirus in Cuba: infections remain below five this Wednesday

The Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) of Cuba reported that until midnight on Wednesday, October 19, they managed to identify two new cases of COVID-19 in the country, and that the same number of patients were discharged on the same day.

At the close of this part No deaths related to the disease were reported, so the figure of 8,530 deaths since the start of the pandemic is maintained, as well as the case fatality rate of 0.77%.

It also transpired that 40 people are currently hospitalized, of which 25 are suspected of having been infected with the new coronavirus, and 15 were confirmed to remain active.

It was also reported that the new patients are female and residents of the country’s capital, both contacts of confirmed cases. One of the cases is less than 20 years old and the other is between 20 and 39 years old.

In the update of the statistics released by the MINSAP, the two evacuated at the beginning of the pandemic and the 57 returned to their countries remain. It is also ensured that no confirmed case reported as serious or critical is treated in the country’s intensive care units.
