The former opposition deputy Amílcar Barral is prosecuted by the Government, for the investigation that concludes that the state company Quipus has a deficit.
“We have done an investigation when we were parliamentarians, for years, and we showed that Quipus was useless. I remember that in the interpellation of former Minister Eugenio Rojas, neither he nor the MAS deputies showed that they were using Quipus cell phones. Now they denounce me for defamation, for showing that this company generates economic damage to the State ”, declared the opponent.
The Integrated Judicial Registry System lists the general manager of Quipus Álex Machicado as the complainant. The crime for which Barral is prosecuted is defamation.

The opposition investigation shows that the state company had an economic injection of more than 1,500 million bolivianos. To this is added that the transitional government in January 2020 reported that the company owed 60 million dollars to the Fund for the Industrial and Productive Revolution (Finpro).
The opponent said that this responds to a government strategy to silence him. He added that it must have bothered them that it was he who revealed that former Vice Minister Nelson Cox hired former Minister Arturo Murillo’s lawyer.
“Given the uselessness of the majority of the parliamentary opposition, we once again took on the task of investigating and reporting. Surely with this process they want to silence us, but we are not afraid. Quipus is a loss-making company and was recognized by the people of the Evo Morales government. Whoever denounces me is an idiot, because we will show that Quipus is a loss-making company, ”said Barral.
