Today (20th), in São Paulo, the training course for inspectors of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), given by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), aimed at the application of international standards for fruits and vegetables. Brazil is part of the international organization through the Fruit and Vegetable Scheme.MAPA inspectors will be able to certify fruits and vegetables for the OECD

Upon completion of the course, inspectors will be able to evaluate batches of these products and sign the certification, which should speed up the export flow. In addition to the theoretical part, the inspectors participated in practical activities, in which they were able to observe defects in fruits and know what is acceptable or not in the foreign market.

Brazil’s participation in the OECD Fruit and Vegetables Scheme began to be articulated in 2015 and has now reached the final stage with the training of inspectors. The OECD brings together 38 countries and is headquartered in France.

“The main objective of the OECD Fruit and Vegetables Scheme is to facilitate trade by harmonizing the implementation and interpretation of trade rules. Another objective is to facilitate the mutual recognition of inspections by participating countries,” said OECD representative Jose Brambila.

Even today, the group visits Ceagesp, to monitor the operation of the warehouse center.
