According to the INDEC (National Institute of Statistics and Censuses), in the second quarter of 2022, the growth of employment at the national level was led by the industry of the sightseeing.
According to the survey, the sector “hotels and restaurants” had a year-on-year increase of over 32%, which means that the sightseeing provided the largest number of jobs during the evaluated period.

Likewise, the portfolio led by Matías Lammens reported that “the remuneration for salaried work (RTA) of the total economy increased 73.7% in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021.”
And they add: “in terms of gross value added (GVA) measured at basic prices, their participation represented 41.7%, showing an increase of 1.04 percentage points (pp) compared to the second quarter of last year.”
According to the figures, during the second quarter of the year, the sector generated 21,636 jobs, which meant an increase of 7.7% in relation to the same period of 2021. For its part, the total hours worked had an increase 9.4% year-on-year.
PreViaje has been the engine of tourism
The Minister of Tourism stressed that the growth of the sector is largely due to the success of the Pre-Trip program in each of its editions, since more than 6 million citizens have managed to travel to the main tourist destinations in the country in the low season.
In this regard Lammens indicated: “PreViaje was the great impetus for the reactivation of tourist activity and its consequent growth in job creation at the federal levell. With the impacts of the third edition of the program, we are going to end 2022 without a ‘low season’ in our destinations.”
