The National Institute of Statistics (INE) reported this Wednesday that unemployment stood at 8.3% four tenths more than in August when it had been 7.9%. The employment rate in September was estimated at 56.8%, an improvement of two tenths compared to 56.6% in the previous month. Unemployment in Montevideo was 7.6% and within 8.7%, among the employed, there are 8.6% as underemployed (without changes) and 20.6% “not registered” in security social or work “in black”. The official report indicated that there are 1,797,000 active people and 1,648,000 employed.
The activity rate showed a rise from 61.5% in August to 61.9% in September.
