The judge, Jorge Luis Chávez Tamariz, of the Seventh National Preparatory Investigation Court, issued 34 months of preventive detention for the virtual mayor of Metropolitan Lima for Podemos Peru, José Luna Morales, in the framework of the investigation for the alleged crimes of criminal organization and active passive bribery in the case previously known as The Gangsters of Politics.
The magistrate considered that there are “serious and well-founded elements of conviction” about the alleged participation of Luna Morales in the criminal organization that, according to the prosecutor’s thesis, would have bought the wills of Guido Eagle Degrees, Ivan Noguera Ramos Y Julio Gutierrez Pebe when they served as advisers to the deactivated National Council of the Judiciary (CNM).
The objective of the takeover of the CNM was to appoint Adolfo Castillo Meza as head of the National Office of Electoral Processes and, consequently, achieve the alleged fraudulent registration of Podemos Peru.
