Through his social networks, the Secretary of Tourism of Michoacán, Roberto Monroy García, confirmed the death of María Salud Ramírez Caballero, known as “Mamá Coco”, at 109 years of age.
In the message, the official stressed that she was a tireless woman and a great example of life, “my prayers for her eternal rest and for her family to find early resignation.”
So far, the cause of death has not been disclosed, but family members are expected to provide more details, while social network users expressed their sorrow over the death of Doña María Salud.
It is said that the woman, who celebrated her birthday just last September 16, inspired the famous character “Mama Coco” in the animated feature film “Coco” by Disney Pixar.
The film was released in 2017 and is based on the celebration of the Day of the Dead; Granny “Coco” is one of the most beloved characters in history for her reflection of loving Mexican mothers.
On the occasion of the Day of the Dead celebration, a few days ago the opening of Doña María Salud’s house located in Santa Fe de la Laguna, Michoacán was announced.
