Itzel de Hewitt, head of the Expanded Immunization Program of the Ministry of Health of Panama (MINSA), referred this Monday morning, October 17, to the progress of pediatric vaccination against covid-19 and other diseases in the country .
Hewitt indicated that last week at the national level the population benefiting from the vaccine that seeks to protect against covid-19 was closed with a ‘golden brooch’.
“We have been introducing the vaccines by groups, we were missing the one from 6 months to 4 years and 11 months to 29 days, last week we received 150,000 doses to start the first cycle of a benefited population of more than 368,000 children,” he added. .
He mentioned that until this week 1,164 doses have been applied, which has been important, because it is a small target population.
“We are going to vaccinate a population that has lagged behind in recent years, so now we are going to resume and apply it together with other vaccines and give health checks that they have not had in recent years,” he said.
According to Hewitt, at the moment the vaccines will be applied in all health centers, polycenters, polyclinics and clinics.
Regarding the alert issued about the respiratory viruses of bronchiolitis in children, he clarified that we do not have this vaccine, no country has it, it is a vaccine that is coming out.
