CDL

According to the Store Directors Club (CDL), only stores in airports, ports and railway, subway and bus stations can work on Merchant Day. The determination follows the 42nd clause of the Collective Bargaining Agreement 2022-2023, signed between SindilojasRio and the Trade Union of Employees. “The Day of the Merchant will be celebrated on Monday, October 17, the date on which commercial establishments will not be able to operate”.

The stores that are part of the exception had to issue a special Term of Adhesion to operate on this day, through the site www.sindilojas.rioin the Service Central Menu, and homologate it in the two unions.

“The work of the trader is prohibited on December 25th, January 1st and on Trader’s Day, that is, the third Monday of October, with the exception of those companies covered by Federal Decree 27.048/49, which may work with its employees, provided that the formalities contained in the Collective Agreement are observed”, establishes the 42nd clause.

The Rio Commerce Federation (Fecomércio) reported that compliance with the clause, on the third Monday of October, applies to the municipalities of Rio, Niterói, Duque de Caxias, São João do Meriti, Nova Iguaçu, Nilópolis, Macaé and other cities in the state. Despite this, in municipalities in the interior such as Miguel Pereira, Três Rios and Volta Redonda, Merchant’s Day is celebrated in August.
