Desireé Nava says she lacks the height to be a goalkeeper, but in his tone of voice you can hear that he has the courage and the intelligence toer part of the major sports leagues. “I travel six hours daily to train in Santa Cruz and return home to Yapacaní,” says the 16-year-old athlete, who has an unmissable opportunity, but does not have the money to cover the cost of her tickets. This is a scholarship to train at the Golden Ball Soccer Academy in Virginia in the United States.

For his parents, Germán Nava and Luz Gardy Marcos Obtaining $2,000 is difficult, but they did not give up and began to do activities to raise funds. They know that every effort is necessary to fulfill their daughter’s dream, who despite the sacrificed trip and the more than three hours of training she does every day, does not neglect her studies at school.

He is 1.56 m tall and has been playing since he was eight years old. “I saw how my father played and that position caught my attention and I started to like it little by little”, recalls Desireé. His trainers tell him that he has power and good reflexes. “What I don’t have is the height, I’m 1.56 m tall, and an archer has to measure between 1.70 m to 1.80 m”, he says laughing.

In Yapacaní every day he gets up early and goes to his school, Nacional Bolivia 2, from where he leaves half an hour before, to arrive on time for his training, which takes place in the Abraham Telchi sports village, in the capital of Santa Cruz.

“I am going every day because I was summoned to the Santa Cruz soccer pre-selection and I have to be present until they select”, he says. She also plays in one of the most traditional clubs of the Women’s Soccer League (Lifeful) Deportivo Ita, which gave her the scholarship.

The young woman joined the national under-20 futsal and under-17 football teams. traveled in March to Uruguay with the Bolivian sub 17 and recently to Brazil with the futsal team. If she obtains the required money, the young woman would be traveling this November 15 with her teammates, Sarahí Romero Tórrez, Luciana Cardona and Haifa Isabela Ríos Ávalos.

The teenager was born in Cotoca and at the age of four her parents took her to live in Yapacaní, where she began to frequent the courts accompanied by her father who shares the passion with her and her two brothers. “I am the one in the middle, my older sister is a player and my younger brother is the same.”, says Desireé.
