SANTO DOMINGO.- Abel Martínez is the virtual winner of the internal consultation of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) held this Sunday, obtaining more than 60.68 percent of the valid votes cast, according to bulletin number 5 of the Organizing Commission of the Consultation on Presidential Candidates (CONAP)
Meanwhile, former Vice President Margarita Cedeño congratulated Abel Martínez on his victory and thanked the colleagues who offered their support in this internal consultation.
In a press release, Cedeño points out that “she is a defender of democracy, that is why I worked to strengthen my Dominican Liberation Party and thus contribute to the future of the country. I participated in this process in good faith and willing to abide by its results.
“That is why I congratulate comrade Abel Martínez who has been favored with the votes on this day,” he said.
Meanwhile, Francisco Domínguez Brito, who reached second place, significantly surpassing former Vice President Cedeño, who was given by the polls as the candidate who would contest the candidacy for Mayor of Santiago, Abel Martínez, also recognized the triumph of the former President of the Chamber of Deputy.

According to bulletin number 5 and after counting more than 72.88 percent of the polling stations, Abel Martínez obtained 60.68 percent, making him the virtual winner of the PLD’s internal consultation.
Former senator Domínguez Brito obtained 20.73 percent of the votes, according to bulletin number 5 released by CONAP. While Margarita Cedeño reached 16.31 percent.
Maritza Hernández reached 1.07 percent, and Karen Ricardo 0.76 percent. Professor Luis de León, who had declined his applicants to support Margarita Cedeño, obtained 0.44 percent.
In bulletin number five, more than 72.88 of the polling stations had been counted and only 27.12 percent remained.
After 8:30 at night, the virtual presidential candidate of the PLD, Abel Martínez, appeared at the National House, where he was received amid a hubbub by dozens of PLD supporters who were there.
