Morena and her allies, the Labor Party (PT) and the Green Party (PVEM), do not have enough votes to reach a qualified majority and modify the Constitution.
The national leader of the PRI and federal deputy, Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas, announced that his bench will discuss all the issues, but ruled out that his party supports the electoral reform proposal presented by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in its terms.
However, he said that changes to the secondary regulations are feasible.
“There are many issues that have to be discussed, affirmative actions, gender vision, transparency, accountability, budget, that is, many things that have to be discussed,” she stressed.
“We are not going to endorse anything that harms the National Electoral Institute or the Federal Electoral Tribunal. We are not going to accept anything that violates the autonomy, strength, and transparency of institutions that are solid in our country. So the PRI has made it clear, we have said.
“I don’t want them to say later, the PRI opens the door to a reform, no. The reform that is coming no. So what we are doing is analyzing, listening to what comes. But once and for all I tell you, nothing that the PRI opens the door and says to a reform. The PRI always discusses all issues, ”she cut short.
The leader of the PRI deputies, Rubén Moreira, in turn ruled out that his bench has a package of reforms in electoral matters or is looking to come up with an alternative proposal, such as the one he presented in the case of militarization.
