The last Argentine tourist who was hospitalized due to the road accident that occurred on October 6 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, died this Sunday, official sources of the investigation reported, who identified him as Juan Pablo Curiantún, 27 years old.

This is the fourth victim of Argentine nationalitywhich was in a delicate state, due to the overturning of a tourist bus in the Dominican city of Punta Cana, The other three deceased Argentine tourists are Luis Klinec, Valiera Victoria Brovelli and Valeria Paola Medina. A Peruvian citizen (Karla Rodríguez Dionisio) also died as a result of the accident.

The accident occurred at the Domingo Maíz-Miches intersection, on the Eastern Tourist Boulevard of the Punta Cana-Miches route, an area widely visited by tourists, where the bus that belonged to the Merenba Tours transport company overturned.

The overturning occurred at a time when the driver of the vehicle (under the influence of cocaine) carried out a reckless maneuver by taking a very sharp curve with excessive speed, when He was going to the town of Bayahibeso that tourists could travel from there by ferry to Saona Island.

In this regard, according to local media, the Public Ministry of the Dominican Republic confirmed that there is evidence that enables the accusation of the driver, identified as Franklin Nin Perez47, because the results of the urine tests performed at the IMG hospital were positive for cocaine.

With these elements, the judge handling the case requested preventive detention for 12 months for the driver, explained the same sources.

Likewise, the Association of Receptive Tour Operators assured that the company Merenba Tours does not belong to said association for “not complying with the standards that we require” and questioned the violation of the norms due to the lack of control in “an excursion with more than 20 passengers without an official tourist guide”,
