The municipality of Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo, confirmed the death of a resident of the municipality due to monkeypox (monkeypox). The 37-year-old man died in the city of Santos in the early hours of Saturday (15).
According to the Praia Grande city hall, the victim had been diagnosed with the disease in early August. In September, she was admitted to a private hospital in the city for secondary infections. She was later transferred to a private hospital in Santos, where she died.
“During the entire period in which he was hospitalized, the patient was accompanied by the Acolhe Praia Grande service of the Praia Grande Health Department and monitored by the Epidemiological Surveillance Division”, says a text of a note from the prefecture.
On the last day 12, the State Department of Health of São Paulo had already confirmed the first death in the state of a patient victim of the disease. He was 26 years old, lived in São Paulo and had several comorbidities. The patient had been hospitalized at the Instituto de Infectologia Emílio Ribas since August 1st.
