The minister of the Supreme Court of Justice Juan Carlos Maqueda suffered this Saturday “a slight trauma and a superficial cut on the chin” after being run over by a cyclist in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Recoleta, and as a consequence of that fact, the magistrate was referred to the Argentine Institute of Diagnosis, where a routine study was carried out, according to police sources.
When crossing Suipacha street at 1100, Maqueda was struck from the left by a cyclistwhich caused him a fall that caused him a chin injury and a blow.
Personnel from the 1A Neighborhood Police Station of the Police of the City of Buenos Aires intervened, who summoned SAME personnel to transfer the judge of the highest court to the Fernandez Hospitalwhere he underwent a routine examination.
Then the Minister of the Court was transferred to the Argentine Institute of Diagnosis, where a tomography was performed that determined that there was no neurological damage as a result of this incident on public roads.
The Fiscal Unit of Flagrancia Este intervenes in the event, which initiated proceedings for “culpable injuries”.
Police spokesmen confirmed that Maqueda underwent a suture in the chin due to the cut suffered in the fall and will remain under observation since he has a cardiac history.
His custody of the Federal Police and secretaries of the Court accompanied him to Maqueda.
Macqueda’s career
The magistrate was born in Río Tercero, Córdoba, on December 29, 1949. He has been a Minister of the Court since December 2002 at the proposal of President Eduardo Duhalde. He is a lawyer graduated from the Catholic University of Córdoba specializing in Constitutional Law and Political Science.
He served as provisional president of the Senate of the Nation between January and December 2002 and national senator from December 2001 to December 2002. He was national deputy between December 1991 and July 1999 and conventional constituent between May and August 1994.
