One year after the death of Cuban actor Abel Rodríguez Ramírez, leading man of telenovelas

Madrid Spain.- This October 15 marks one year of death by Abel Rodríguez Ramírez, Cuban film and television actor.

Born in Havana in 1971, he studied acting at the National School of Art (ENA). While he lived in Cuba he worked in series and soap operas. On the Island he is especially remembered for his role as leading man in the telenovela Nightlife.

He won an award for best supporting actor at the Havana International Film Festival (2003) for the film scent oak, directed by Rigoberto López and in which he shared the stage with Jorge Perugorría, Lia Chapman, Rubén Breñas and Raúl Martín, among others.

He took part in films like Long live Cuba Y dancing chachachaboth from 2015.

However, most of his career was spent abroad, mainly in Colombia, Spain and the United States.

In Colombia, where he was much loved by viewers, he became popular with the series “La viuda de la mafia”; success that he maintained with “Verano en Venecia”, “El clone” and “Chepe Fortuna”.

One of his last performances was for the feature film planted, on the repression of political prisoners in Cuba, directed by exiled Cuban director Lilo Vilaplana.

At his death, he was carrying out an audiovisual project with the Telemundo network, from the United States, a country where he had lived for years with his wife, the Colombian Ana López.

When Abel Rodríguez died, he left three children; one with Ana López and two others from his previous marriages, with the also actresses, the Peruvian Andrea Montenegro and the Cuban Edith Massola.
