After this Friday the nationalist senator George Gandini affirm that there is a difference in the “speed” with which prosecutors investigate cases in the current period of government in contrast to the years of the Frente Amplio governmentsthe prosecutor of Flagrancia Gabriela Fossati, currently in charge of the investigation of the case of the former head of custody of President Luis Lacalle Pou, Alexander Astesiano, He responded through his Twitter account to the legislator’s statements.
In his publication, Fossati also refers to statements by the current president of the Association of Fiscal Magistrates of Uruguay, Willian Rosa, who this Friday also criticized Gandini’s statements on Twitter. “It is not healthy for the Republic to sow suspicions, if you have evidence, you have to report it,” Rosa wrote on that social network. “The Prosecutor’s Office is an independent body, it should not be subject to the power of the governments in power, this is a fundamental pillar of democracy. I am concerned about these assertions.”
Prosecutor Fossati wrote that Rosa “does not represent me since I am not a member of the Association.” And she added: “Personally, I leave everything of myself to give a serious and not dilated answer in my cases”.
“Although the Public Ministry is unique, each Prosecutor’s Office works exclusively on its cases. Each Prosecutor can answer only for his work. My functional commitment has no color“, continued the lawyer, who also charged against the previous Court Prosecutor, Jorge Díaz. About him, Fossati said that “he systematically ignored my requests for the allocation of resources in exceptional situations, which today does not happen to me within the limited possibilities of the institution, which allows me to work better”.
“It would be good if general considerations (“the prosecutors”) were not made, but rather that the allegedly delayed case(s) were indicated to the superior. Trying to give quick answers shouldn’t be the problem. Neither fulfilling the function in the best possible way”concluded the prosecutor.

Gandini criticized the “speed” of the prosecutors this Friday
Gandini spoke this Friday in an act of the 250 list in Mercedes, and there he commented, in reference to the escape of the Italian Rocco Morabito “We have been in government for two and a half years, this must have been four, the prosecutor has not yet investigatedhow do we get in there? It’s hard,” she said.
“Now, when it’s our turn to find out, they go very fast, when we have a problem, we prosecutors are incredibly fast”, assured. “I get the impression that we won the government, but we did not win power. The process of conquering power is much longer than conquering the government and we are just getting closer to knowing how it is handled,” Gandini added at that event.
