Larissa Jiménez decorates with a touch of felt every Christmas

She is the owner of a business that started in 2019 and is successful

When a battle has to be fought, Larissa Jiménez is on the front line. She is used to jumping obstacles and the word entrepreneurship is very familiar to her.

Since 2019 he began to take the first steps for a business that has been accompanied by success and every day he strives to move forward.

That this small company that she owns has the name “Larissa’s details” is not a coincidence. At the beginning the enterprise had another name, but impregnated with the same enthusiasm of today. An enthusiasm that is contagious to each of the clients that it has been acquiring.

By then he was concentrating on the segment of earrings. Crafts have always been a part of his life. One of her aunts was the one who led her to the world of crafts.

“What I wanted was to do details, I wanted to work on all the crafts that I knew how to do and then, with the pandemic, costume jewelry stressed me, being in the same thing,” she recalls.

Looking for tutorials on Youtube, she found a lot of interesting documentation about felting, which she had worked with before. She was not a foreign element to him, especially since she had made decorations for her children with that type of material.

Larissa is highly inclined towards making Christmas decorations, but her talent, ability and creativity go a long way. She can make everything from the mobile that goes over the crib of a newborn child, to any other decoration that a client can think of, including some for birthdays, centerpieces, for baptisms, for candy tables and others.

When Larissa returned to work with felt, the Christmas season was close and that has been in her favor. He created things for her, to distract himself from her. But later, because she was not feeling well in another job other than that she had, she decided to see the felt as something of a business. At the beginning of this year she formally started and now she herself is immersed in making Christmas accessories. She has also made ornaments for babies and is planning to make attachment dolls (those that are called rag dolls); she decorates the birthday tables and she teaches felt classes, since the month of June.

“I do it because I want people to understand that when you want to start a business, don’t just think that it can be a cake or earrings, but that you have other options. Maybe people don’t like cooking or they don’t want to do more of the same, ”he explains.

And he adds: “My goal is for more people to work with felt, to work with crafts, for all the benefits that creativity gives, to the same self-esteem, when you see that something made by you, something special.”

From the first days until today, “The Details of Larissa” has come a long way, because one of the primary objectives of the owner was to teach classes and she is doing so. “There are already more people who are getting to know felt,” she says.

“I don’t have as many clients as I would like, but if I start to think and evaluate that I just started at the end of last year, then I must admit that I have been advancing little by little,” he says.

The entrepreneur has not limited herself to a specific target or public, but she has limited or circumscribed herself to the use of a material. “My target customer is, let’s say, between twenty and sixty years old. But what I have limited myself to is one material, which is felt,” she explains.

From his point of view, craftsmanship, as people call this activity, is everything that is manual.
“It is diverse; So, of the many courses I took, I focused on felt, because there I can also machine it, depending on what I am going to do”, she argues.

It indicates that you like the peace of mind you get from sewing by hand. “There I combine hand embroidery with sewing, which although people think is the same thing, it is not, and with the creativity of cutting, pasting… With it I unite several techniques at the same time, without having to lean towards a single one. , simply with the material”, he maintains.

In the felt area there is room to take advantage and grow.

The guarantee of buying one made in the country

“With felt there is a market, for example, in what I do, with Christmas decorations. People buy them perhaps from those who come from abroad, but it is not the same finish, ”she says.
Another element that helps her is that children are born in the country all year round, which opens up space for making decorations, ideal for placing both at the door of the clinic where the newly delivered mother is, and even in the space at home where are the mother and the baby, as a decorative accessory.
