Massa met with economic representatives of the region after signing with the IDB

The Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, met with economic representatives from Paraguay, Chile and Mexico, after signing the credit for US$700 million with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

The funds approved by the IDB are intended to “support economic and social recovery in Argentina” by strengthening public finances, contributing to price stability and strengthening the balance of payments.

After the signing, Massa, together with the Alternate Executive Director of the Southern Cone at the World Bank, Cecilia Nahon, met with the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Paraguay, Oscar Llamosas.

During the meeting, both nations consolidated the commercial and economic relations that have historically united them, to continue strengthening their role in the region.

Then, the minister spoke with the Chilean Minister of Finance, Mario Marcel Cullell, about binational investment and development projects.

This meeting aimed to advance in key areas of the regional and global economy.

For his part, Massa, after speaking with the Secretary of Finance and Public Credit of the Government of Mexico, Rogelio Ramírez de la O, described the meeting as “very positive”, and stressed that both countries “have enormous importance in the economic direction of the regions”.

The minister considered that it is “key for the future” to coordinate and plan joint developments.

On the other hand, regarding Massa’s agenda in Washington, Argentine officials met with directors of Deutsche Bank, and attended the plenary session of the Development Committee organized by the World Bank.

During this same day, businessmen and think tanks related to Argentina together with government officials from the United States listened to Minister Massa’s dissertation.

Regarding this, the Argentine economy minister referred to the policy changes that occurred during his two months in office, and the pattern of how the economy will stabilize in the coming months.

Finally, the economic team remains pending another credit for 500 million dollars, that the IDB promised its approval before the end of the last quarter of the year.
