The Ministry of Transport assured, through the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, the resources that were missing to continue the dredging work in the Port Zone of Barranquilla in the remainder of 2022.
Given this, the Minister of Transport, Guillermo Francisco Reyes González, stated that “For the Government of Change, it is a priority to guarantee the execution of vital infrastructure works for the country’s competitiveness, such as the maintenance dredging of the access channel to the port of Barranquilla. So it is very important to tell everyone who makes use of our River in one way or another that these resources are guaranteed.”
In addition, Minister Reyes specified after his visit to the facilities of Cormagdalena, Dimar and the Port of Barranquilla this Friday, the analysis that is being carried out on the Public Initiative that will meet the future needs of the Magdalena River’s navigability.
“We see the need that in the following weeks a decision be made regarding the IP or Public Initiative of resources that allow guaranteeing the dredging and navigability that previously failed twice via APP and that this Government will ensure as a necessity in fluvial matters. ”.
Precisely, so far in 2022, more than 4 million cubic meters have been dredged in the access channel to the Port of Barranquillamaintaining operability and a stable draft that is currently at 8.8 meters in accordance with the security message issued by the General Maritime Directorate.
