Although the 10 main opposition parties have already agreed on a date for the election of the opposition candidate for the presidential elections, there is still no consensus on what would happen to the interim government, headed by Juan Guaidó since January 2019.

The Unitary Platform announced last Sunday the approval of the regulations that will govern the primary elections. He argued that the regulation is the result of extensive consultation with various political sectors and civil society.

The regulations provide for the registration of candidates who are disqualified. The National Primary Commission, which aspires to be installed this October, will assume the definitive position on the participation or not of the leaders of the parties to which the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) awarded the card. To date, the spirit that prevails is to close the path to that possibility.
