The PT candidate for the government of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad, said today (14) that, if elected, he will double the state budget for culture. According to haddad, culture is an important sector, generating employment, income and opportunity.
“Zero point three percent of the state budget for culture is an economic mistake. Culture is a front for generating employment, income and opportunity. We have to, at the very least, double the culture budget to get the public notices to Suzano, as well as to the interior of the state”, said the candidate, who visited the city in the metropolitan region of São Paulo today.
Haddad also highlighted that he intends to put into practice policies for the purchase of food for schools and hospitals, in addition to initiatives to combat hunger. According to the candidate, priority will be given to food from family farming and, whenever possible, organic.
“We are going to use government purchases to purchase food. I did this when I was minister [da Educação] and when I was mayor [de São Paulo]. Let’s improve the quality of meals by buying food from rural producers at a fair price. So, those who work with the land don’t have to worry because our management will support the sector,” he said.
This Saturday (15), Haddad takes two walks in the capital of São Paulo: in the morning, in Heliópolis and, in the afternoon, in the region of Avenida Paulista.
