In an auction promoted this Friday (14) by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) and the Ministry of Mines and Energy, R$ 6.57 billion in energy contracts were negotiated. There will be 22 enterprises in nine states, which should invest R$ 2.95 billion. 176.8 megawatts (MW) of energy were contracted at an average price of R$ 237.48 per megawatt-hour (MWh), which should start being supplied in 2027. The auction was operated by the Electric Energy Commercialization Chamber, in Sao Paulo.
The hydroelectric plant was the source with the highest number of projects contracted, 12, of which nine are small power plants. The plants are located in the states of Santa Catarina, Goiás, Paraná and Mato Grosso.
Four solar energy projects were also contracted in Minas Gerais and Paraíba. Bahia and Rio Grande do Norte will have three wind energy projects. Sugarcane biomass will be responsible for generating electricity in two plants in Goiás. And São Paulo will have an enterprise that will supply energy from urban waste.
The prices offered were, on average, 26.38% below the auction ceiling. The biggest discount was for biomass plants, which offered prices 40% lower than the ceiling. Solar plants were contracted for values 38.78% below the maximum price. Wind energy was traded for values 26.9% lower than the initial price. The hydroelectric plants offered a price 20.46% below the ceiling. The municipal solid waste plant closed a contract with a price practically equal to the maximum price, with a discount of only 0.01%.
Of the total contracted, 87.3 megawatts are from hydroelectric plants; 51.8 MW of solar sources; 23.5 MW of wind farms; 13 MW of biomass and 1.2 MW of generation from solid waste.
