The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) reported this Friday that the Peruvian State won the arbitration award against the concessionaire Chavimochic (Odebrecht and Graña y Montero), so the project does go to the La Libertad region.
“On October 4, the arbitral tribunal ruled in favor of the Peruvian State, resolving the contract and not accepting the controversies requested by the Chavimochic concessionaire, preventing the State from disbursing US$118.5 million or its equivalent in soles, and other items for damages. requested by the dealer”, he indicated through a statement.
He added that once the results of the arbitration award are known, Midagri is working on the most efficient alternatives to start the execution of the balance of the work, starting in 2023, with a view to delivering the Palo Redondo dam, 100% completed, to the Government. Liberty Region.

The case began in 2017, when Chavimochic sued the State after the delay in the delivery of land for the third stage of the irrigation project and requested compensation of US$118 million.
