The disagreement continues on the part of the trade unions, business associations and the Government to advance in phase 2 of the Dialogue Table, instituted to reach consensus on various issues that afflict the country, after the protests registered in the month of July East. The alliances, for their part, have expressed their concern at the lack of participation of the businessmen and the Government to attend the talks and gave an ultimatum to choose a facilitator and continue the negotiations.
In this sense, Marco Andrade, General Secretary of the National Confederation of Independent Union Unity (CONUSI), indicated that a minute was approved at the end of the first stage, in which the dynamics to form the second phase were raised.
“It was suggested that at that second table we were going to discuss structural issues such as Food Security and Sovereignty, Indigenous Peoples, Human and Environmental Rights, Housing and Habitat, Public Infrastructure, Education, Youth and Social Development, Health, Social Security, Transportation and Logistics ; in addition to the participation of the three alliances, the representation of the government and businessmen », he pointed out.
Andrade revealed that currently several organizations have been proposed to be facilitators of the table, but it must be discussed; however, he is concerned about the lack of participation from businessmen.
“Yesterday a meeting was called and neither the government nor the businessmen showed up, and it was rescheduled for the 28th, that fills us with great concern, given the situation that the Panamanian people and workers are going through, with hunger, misery and inequality,” he said.
He stressed that if the rest of the dialogue actors do not show up on October 28, all the popular alliances will meet to take action.
