The mayor of the National District (ADN) and the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) and the Dominican Popular Bank announced this Thursday renovation of the Parque de Las Praderas, in which 30 million pesos donated by that bank will be invested.
The works, which will be ready in the first quarter of 2023, include the complete lighting of the space, new exercise areas, the remodeling of the sports areas and recreation kiosks, new playgrounds, a dog park, the reconstruction of the bike path and inclusive access for people with disabilities.
Also, landscaping and gardening work, the remodeling of the amphitheater that this green area has, the installation of benches and the adaptation of the children’s and dog areas, as well as the picnic tables.
The reading and fine arts area of the park will also be renovated and painting work will be carried out, the recovery of the murals that adorn the surroundings and the installation of signage. In addition, the electrical installations will be improved with an efficient energy system and the health infrastructure of the park.
The interventions were announced in a ceremony headed by the mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejía, the executive president of Banco Popular, Christopher Paniagua, and the Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención.
The Prairie Park It is more than 76,000 square meters long and four meters long. It is the second largest municipally managed park in the capital, which makes it one of the most representative natural areas in the city, which welcomes approximately more than 3,000 users.
Carolina Mejía said that it is pleasing for the municipal government of the District to have institutions that collaborate in the recovery of spaces for the enjoyment of citizens.
Jose Marmol of Dominican Popular Banksaid that these types of initiatives are part of the social vision that this banking entity has to collaborate with the well-being of people.
Dozens of community members from Las Praderas and areas near the park participated in the activity.
