AN prepares second discussion of law that regulates use of the name of Bolívar

The Commissions of Internal Policy and Security and Defense of the Nation approved this Wednesday the report for the second discussion of the Bill that Regulates the use of the Name, Titles and Effigy of El Libertador Simón Bolívar.

The president of the Commission for Security and Defense of the Nation, deputy Jesús Suárez Chourio, considers that this is a symbolic and ideological law that seeks to honor, maintain and defend the legacy of the Father of the Nation, reports the web portal of the National Assembly.

He reported that the law consists of 11 articles, a derogatory provision and a final provision, and proposes to declare the name, titles and effigy of El Libertador Simón Bolívar as tangible and intangible historical heritage of the nation.

The legal initiative also establishes the duty of citizens to exalt and honor the Venezuelan hero.

“We are a Bolivarian Homeland and we are founded on the historical legacy of our Simón Bolívar, material and immaterial and cultural heritage of the homeland,” argued Chourio and called on all Venezuelans to continue along this path of defense of the legacy of El Libertador and his face.

He stated that the unanimously approved text is intended precisely to regulate the use of Bolívar with the idea of defending, safeguarding, protecting and regulating its legacy as a fundamental value of the Republic.

The parliamentarian considers that the bill will prevent Bolívar’s memory from being disrespected and his name and image from being profaned or vilified, as happened recently when the paintings of El Libertador were removed, and even hidden in bathrooms.

He announced that this norm will be taken to the Plenary Chamber for its definitive approval and will be sent to the National Executive for its execution and promulgation.

Finally, Chourio expressed solidarity with the relatives of the victims of Las Tejerías, Aragua state. “We present our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and friends of all those people who unfortunately lost their lives in these events,” said the deputy.
