This Thursday, October 13 delivered the first property titles for the rural population of Cauca. The delivery took place in Parque Caldas, the main square of Popayán, capital of the department.

Cecilia López, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, was the one who led the event that is part of the massive titling of more than 681,000 hectares in all the country. This is one of the components that will govern the agrarian reform of the government of Gustavo Petro.
“This is to formalize the land in Popayán, Santander de Quilichao and Corinto. This Government started with an agrarian reform, a relationship between land and production that this country had postponed for centuries”, assured the head of the portfolio.
Likewise, together with the delivery of titles, the Rural Development Agency, the National Land Agency and the Agrarian Bank were present to publicize the agenda that the Government had for peasant, indigenous and Afro-descendant families.

The idea is that they access credit and have technical assistance for comprehensive rural development and consolidate total peace in their territories.
“These titles remove some people from illegality who, due to this condition, did not have access to the State’s offer. With this, the reactivation of the Colombian countryside is sought (…), but it is not just delivering land, the commitment is land with a package of public policies for productive projectsLopez added.
This delivery was the inaugural act of the regional market for rural women who came from four departments of the Colombian Pacific to offer four tons of food with occasion of the International Day of Rural Women.

Finally, the minister highlighted the work of farm workers and assured that the Ministry is working so that these markets meet a fundamental role in the food security of the country.
