Bolsonaro says he will exempt payroll from the health sector

The candidate for re-election to the Presidency of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), said today (13) that, if he wins the election, he will relieve the payroll of the health sector. This Thursday, he participated in campaign events in Recife.Bolsonaro says he will exempt payroll from the health sector

“I asked for [o ministro da Economia, Paulo Guedes] relieve the sheet [de pagamento] of health in Brazil. There are 17 sectors that are already exempt, and he said that I could announce the exemption of health care in Brazil. The impact is compatible,” he said. “Today, the non-exempt sector pays a 20% tax on the payroll. The exemption becomes 1% to 4% of the company’s gross revenue. It will be advantageous, and we will give another signal to the issue of the nursing floor in Brazil”, he added.

Projects in progress in the Chamber of Deputies and in the Senate also deal with the exemption of the payroll for the health sector

Currently, the exemption benefits 17 sectors of the economy. The measure is valid until the end of 2023 for collective road and freight transport companies, passenger metro-railway companies, IT companies, integrated circuits, communication technology companies, in the civil construction sector, infrastructure works companies, call center companies, footwear, clothing and clothing companies , leather, newspapers and communication companies.

With this, companies can choose to stop paying the social security contribution calculated on the payroll, of 20% of the employees’ salaries, and continue to contribute with the rate on gross revenue, which varies from 1% to 4, 5%. In theory, the initiative offers a greater incentive to hire staff.

In a speech to evangelical and political leaders, Bolsonaro mentioned actions for the development of the Northeast Region in the areas of energy and mining and the work of his government in social assistance, especially directed to women.
