With 58 votes in favor and 46 against, the plenary session of Congress approved the interpellation motion against the Minister of Foreign Affairs, César Landa. As is known, parliamentarian Jorge Montoya presented the motion for the declarations of President Pedro Castillo at the United Nations General Assembly in the United States.
The proposal of the Renovación Popular legislator proposes that the foreign minister answer a total of 31 questions that include questions about the president’s statements, the Malvinas Islands issue, Peru’s position in the Sea Convention, the reestablishment of diplomatic relations with the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic and bilateral relations with Morocco.
During the exposition of the motion, Montoya maintained that a lack of preparation has been evidenced in the people who expose the country’s policies abroad on relevant issues such as the situation of the Malvinas Islands or relations with the Saharawi Arab Republic.
