Board of Superior Prosecutors and National Coordinators support constitutional complaint against Castillo

The Presidents of the Board of Superior Prosecutors at the national level and National Coordinators of the Specialized Prosecutors of the today issued a statement supporting the action of the Prosecutor’s Office after filing the constitutional complaint against the president for alleged crime of criminal organization, among others.

We reiterate our endorsement and support for the institutional decision of the Attorney General of the Nation who, in use of her constitutional powers and attributions, has filed the constitutional complaint against the President of the Republic and other high-ranking civil servants.”, he added.

The complaint was filed last Tuesday, October 11, the same day that preliminary arrests and different raids were carried out in the framework of the investigations against Castillo’s collaborators.

The Nation’s prosecutor, Patricia Benavides, stressed that, from now on, it falls to Congress to be able to continue with the investigations of President Pedro Castillo and his entourage, in the face of obvious signs of corruption.

Minutes after the constitutional complaint was filed, Benavides provided a video message in which he remarked that prosecutors “are not political actors, but justice operators” and that the investigation is “based on facts, not people.”

The head of the Public Ministry mentioned that “very serious and revealing indications” of the existence of a criminal organization “entrenched in the Government” have been found.

This network, Benavides pointed out, would be headed by Castillo and made up of former ministers Juan Silva and Geiner Alvarado, as well as the former general manager of Petroperú, Hugo Chávez, among others.
