Morena in the Chamber of Deputies proposed a reform so that the Secretaries of National Defense and the Navy can establish a parastatal company that operates a commercial airline, and exempt them from the prohibition of managing a terminal and, at the same time, an aviation company .
In parallel, section 15 of the union of the Confederation of Workers of Mexico (CTM), which represents Interjet employees, asked the Defense to participate as a bidder to acquire all the assets of the airline and that these serve its purpose of putting it into operation, which could give the affected workers the opportunity to join it
.
The union request comes after the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation dismissed the appeal for review promoted by the company against the strike that broke out on January 8 of last year, for which it will have to pay more than 2 million pesos. for lost wages and benefits.
The ruling, expressed the union section, is in favor of the workers and is unappealable, so There is no longer any instance, trial or appeal that can be filed against the determination of the Federal Board of Conciliation and Arbitration (JFCA) to declare Interjet responsible for the suspension of work and order it to pay 2 million pesos
.
If they do not comply, the JFCA may appoint an expert appraiser of the assets seized from the airline and order their auction, so that the employees can collect the amounts owed to them since the strike broke out.
Last week, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirmed that the constitution of an airline operated by the Army is being prepared, and he even suggested that will use the name of Mexicana de Aviación
.
Yesterday in the Parliamentary Gazette an initiative of deputy Omar Castañeda was published that proposes reforms to the Civil Aviation Law, so that parastatal companies, including the participation of aircraft from the Secretaries of National Defense and the Navy
can obtain concessions to operate a commercial airline.
The proposal also considers a modification to the Airport Law, so that the military firm does not have the restriction that prevents the same company from having the concession of an airport, in this case the Felipe Ángeles, and operating its ships in the same terminal. In addition, the legislator proposes to include as grounds for withdrawing concessions companies that, in an irrational sense, repeatedly
oversell tickets. In Morena, it was anticipated that the project must still be analyzed internally to define if its approval is promoted.
