The director of the Lyceum of Application, Humberto Garrido, submitted his resignation from the position at the request of the Municipal Education Directorate (DEM) of Santiago. Garrido’s resignation comes amid a string of protests by student groups.
“Today is my last day as rector of the Application Lyceum, after being in a meeting with DEM authorities, Mr. rodrigo roco (director of the Santiago DEM) asked me to resign early as a result of the performance evaluation corresponding to the year 2022,” Garrido said in a statement.

Last week, for example, hooded men left the educational campus and tried to cut off traffic. In this context, they stopped a bus, beat the driver and forced him down. Later, Molotov cocktails were thrown at the machinery.
Carabineros controlled the flames with the water spray car. Later, police officers managed to arrest three fourth-grade students (Matias Barahona19, and two other 17-year-olds).
