The complaint against Pedro Castillo must be evaluated by the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations of the Parliament, which, if its origin is determined, will go to the Permanent Commission until it reaches the plenary session of Congress.


The Prosecutor of the Nation of Peru, Patricia Benavides, presented this Tuesday a constitutional complaint in Congress against President Pedro Castillo based on the accusation that he leads an alleged criminal organization, in addition to accusations of influence peddling and complicity in an alleged case. of fraud.

“The Prosecutor of the Nation, Patricia Benavides, presented the constitutional complaint against the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, by means of a letter entered this afternoon at the table of parts of the Congress of the Republic,” the Public Ministry wrote on its social networks. .

The document must be evaluated by the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations of Parliament, which, if its origin is determined, will go to the Permanent Commission until it reaches the plenary session of Congress.

This is added to five other open preliminary investigations that the Prosecutor’s Office accumulates against Castillo, as he is accused of being the head of an alleged criminal organization that takes advantage of his position of power in the Government to fraudulently award public works tenders.

According to the document sent to the Legislative, the attorney general makes the constitutional complaint against the president as the alleged perpetrator of crimes against public tranquility, in the form of criminal organization aggravated by his status as leader.

Also for crimes against the public administration in the form of aggravated influence peddling and as an alleged accomplice of the crime against the public administration in the form of collusion (fraud).

Raids on the Castillo circle

The news about the complaint against Castillo was known the same day that the Prosecutor’s Office, with the support of a special group of police, raided the offices and residences of six congressmen from the centrist Acción Popular (AP) party, as well as the home of a sister of the president.

The Peruvian president denounced the raid on his sister’s house, where his mother was recovering from a recent surgical intervention, for which he blamed the Prosecutor’s Office for the health conditions that Mávila Díaz Terrones, 77, may suffer.

«The Prosecutor’s Office has entered my sister’s house. My mother is there. This abusive act has affected her health. I hold the National Prosecutor’s Office responsible for the health of my mother,” Castillo posted on Twitter.

In the case of the parliamentarians who were also subject to this measure, it is a group known by local media and the opposition as “Los Niños”, due to a statement that the businesswoman Karelim López offered to the Prosecutor’s Office in February, who assured who coordinate illicit activities within the Executive with Castillo in exchange for supporting the government with their votes.
