Bolivia added its first medals at the 2023 South American Games in Asunción. Boxing won three bronze medals on Monday ending the drought of the national team in Paraguay. Jordy Hinojosa, María Eugenia Ortega and Ayda Santalla are the boxers who got said metal.
Hinojosa had two fights to win the bronze, in the category up to 51 kg. On Saturday he defeated Paraguayan Bruno Oliver Ovando and this Monday he lost against Colombian Juan Sebastián Palacios in the semifinal phase.
In this discipline, the two semi-final losers automatically get bronzejust as it happened with the medals achieved in the female branch.
María Eugenia Ortega fought directly in the ‘semis’ and fell against the Argentine Lucia Noelia Pérez, in the category up to 66 kg. The Bolivian had to settle for bronze.
The same thing happened with Ayda Santalla, who participated in the category up to 50 kg. Our representative had only one fight that was in the semifinals against the Colombian Ingrit Lorena Valencia, which she lost.
