The Finance Minister Jose Antonio Ocampo, traveled to the United States on Monday, within the framework of the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). There, the portfolio holder expects to meet World Bank President David Malpass, high-level executives and investors.
(Reform is a step towards a more equitable tax system: Ocampo).
“The trip to the United States coincides precisely with the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, which is one of the most important events in the international financial system, because around it and the Inter-American Development Bank, which has its headquarters in Washington, multiple meetings are held, many private investors hold forums and there is the possibility of discussing with them”, assured Ocampo.
(‘The reform hits savings, investment and consumption’: Fenalco).
According to the Minister, these spaces can also be used to ‘advertise Colombia’, and will take advantage of different forums and conferences with private investors with the expectation that they invest in Colombia. “That’s what I say I’m going to do on these trips, sell Colombia as a country that is very good for investment.”
Ocampo confirmed that he will take advantage of his week in the US capital to also meet with the directors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), with multiple colleagues and also with finance ministers from Latin America.
