The President of the Council of Ministers, Hannibal Torresassured this Monday that the International Arbitration Court has already resolved the contract with the concessionaire Chavimochicwhich ended the possibility of a new addendum and opens the way to a new bidding process.
“As for Chavimochic, I have to be very sorry that we have not been able to overcome this in the Executive, because everyone is afraid. The previous minister said I will go to jail if I confirm this. How many times have we made them feel that there is social and political approval. Notwithstanding this, we have not been able to overcome the difficulty, and the Arbitral Tribunal has already resolved the contract, so there is no more addendum”, he said during his presentation before the Budget Commission of the Congress of the Republic.
Likewise, Torres said that the Executive will redouble efforts to concession the balance of work that remains in the progress of the Palo Redondo dam.

“Immediately we get to work to concession the balance of work that remains (of Palo Redondo), the 30% that remains and carry it out immediately,” he said.
It is worth mentioning that the works in the III Stage of Chavimochic have been paralyzed since 2016. The Palo Redondo dam has an execution of 70% and what was sought with the addendum was for the concessionaire to finish what is missing from the project.
“We are well aware that Chavimochic is going to greatly expand the agricultural frontier and, of course, most importantly, water for Trujillo. That work goes anyway, ” remarked the head of the PCM.
Finally, it is important to point out that Aníbal Torres did not clarify what would be the terms or conditions for the new tender.
