Governor Rocha reviews business opportunities with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of Bangladesh

Culiacán, Sinaloa, October 10, 2022.- In harmony with the state policy to promote the commercial development of Sinaloa and the strengthening of international relations to generate benefits for the entity, Governor Rubén Rocha Moya held a meeting with His Excellency , Abida Islam, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Mexico, accompanied by Javier Gaxiola Coppel, Secretary of Economic Development, as well as diplomatic personnel from the Embassy, ​​in which they discussed the economic opportunities that could be established with this country.

Ambassador Abida Islam expressed her interest in expanding the export of textile products, clothing and shoes, since Bangladesh is the second country with the largest international trade in this area and is only surpassed by the People’s Republic of China.

In addition, he highlighted his interest in making synergy with Sinaloa for the processing of some fruit and vegetable crops, recognizing the modernization of Sinaloa agriculture, stating that in certain products such as shrimp, they have an internal market but they do not have an external market, derived from the absence of adequate preservation processes.

The Governor expressed the need to reduce the current costs of textile inputs, so they will analyze the costs to review the possibility of importing them from Bangladesh.

For his part, Secretary Javier Gaxiola detailed to the Ambassador the processes that are carried out in the entity from the tomato and mango harvest, from which tomato sauce and dehydrated fruit are derived, topics in which Abida Islam indicated his interest.

Among other aspects, the Ambassador emphasized that Bangladesh has a lot of human capital prepared in the field of Information Technology, which could also be used by Sinaloa, commenting that in her country the government is implementing a large number of digital services for population, as is being done in the entity.

Finally, the State Executive and the Ambassador exchanged presents, as well as books on cultural and educational topics, indicating their mutual interest in maintaining contact.
