The agreement was reached on October 8 in a meeting with representatives of public transport units, buses, interprovincial companies, international companies, taxi drivers and motorcycle taxi drivers, considering that the price of oil is increasing despite lowering its cost in the international market.
Key meeting with Prime Minister Torres
Morales Cabrera said that they will hold a meeting tomorrow with the president of the Council of Ministers, Aníbal Torres, where they await a solution to the increase in oil prices, whose price is around 20 soles per gallon and has risen in price by 30% for 15 days.
“A first meeting was held with Prime Minister Torres where they were given a period of eight days to see the solution to the rise in fuel prices, the term expires this Tuesday, October 11. The country’s transport leaders were summoned to the meeting.
It goes down in the world but in Peru it goes up
The proposal is to maintain the government subsidy with the fuel price verification fund where the cost per gallon does not exceed 15 soles. “It is not possible for the price of oil to drop from 120 dollars to 90 dollars a barrel and in Peru instead of going down, it continues to rise,” said the leader.
He said that there are already proposals from urban transport to raise the price of the ticket if there is no solution to the rise in fuel, which he considers detrimental to the economy of the population.

It would affect the freight and product chain
He recalled that if the price of fuel rises, this leads to an increase in the cost of products.
Another request of the union is cargo reservation, that is, only truckers who are from the region are allowed to transport cargo.
