The director of the Los Curos Basic School in Mérida assures that the waterproofing work has already begun, but clarifies that they still require part of the material to be able to finish the work.
Parents and representatives of the Los Curos Basic School, located in the Osuna Rodríguez parish of the Libertador municipality in the state of Mérida, ask the authorities to promptly repair the leaks that affect the structure of the campus.
In the midst of the return to classes that began throughout the country on Monday, October 3, by order of the Ministry of Education, Josué Rondón, representative of one of the students, said that for three years the facilities of this school have leaked in the corridors and in some of its classrooms, which it assures has generated humidity in a large part of the infrastructure.
“This humidity represents a risk for the students who receive classes on campus, because they could begin to present respiratory conditions since the ceilings and walls have fungus and the paint is giving way,” said Rondón.

For Agustina Maltés, who is another representative of a student in the institution, it is essential that they attend to this situation because classes started without corrective measures being taken in this regard.
For her part, Raquel Rondón, director of the Los Curos Elementary School, reported that they had already started the waterproofing process in the facilities, but stressed that they still require the first batch to continue the work.
“Our enrollment is 473 students and everyone is watching classes in the areas where there are no leaks, we only need part of the material to complete the waterproofing,” he stressed.
