The governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, described this Sunday as “frightening” the actions of the Buenos Aires police in last Thursday’s game that was unfinished between Gimnasia and Boca in La Plataand assured that “our government does not promote or tolerate institutional violence.”

This was stated by the governor during an interview for the television channel C5N, where he indicated that “immediately”, after the events of violence that occurred, “I decided to separate and expel the head of the operation from the force”.

“Our government does not promote or tolerate institutional violence, and I will make the decisions that I have to make,” Kicillof said, noting that they are “at the disposal of the justice system that is investigating the facts, as well as internal police matters.”

Along these lines, he stated: “I am putting up a hard fight to transform the force. For the first time we equalize the salaries of the Buenos Aires police with the federal forces. We improve the technological aspects, the organization in each district. It is a deep and complex issue that we have improved from the beginning of the management”.

“They must determine if there was overselling. The responsibilities must be investigated. There are 300 games per month in our territory and this does not happen,” he added.

In this sense, the provincial president indicated that the security forces are “to prevent and not to attack.”

In addition, Kicillof supported the Buenos Aires Security Minister, Sergio Berni, who “He is not accused of any act, he immediately appeared at the scene and criticized the police action, he supported my decision to remove the head of the operation and we made ourselves available to the family of the deceased person (César Regueiro), who was accompanied From the first moment”.

Regarding the possibility of an inmate within the Buenos Aires police, he pointed out that “according to what is investigated, they will act accordingly.”

“This does not happen all the time and that is why I do not downplay it. Each fact must be answered and this will not be the exception”assured.

Kicillof also criticized “some statements by members of the previous government because I consider them opportunistic.”

“Until the results are in, I cannot make decisions and we are going to act with the corresponding severity. It is also necessary to determine if everyone acted by some order or some troops did it on their own,” he said.

Regarding what may happen in the next matches, he stated that “Decisions are being made because there are games in the next few days and we all have to act accordingly”.

The meeting between Gimnasia and Boca, for the 23rd. day, he was suspended after 9 minutes of the first stage, with the score tied without goals, as a result of the police repression that occurred outside the Bosque stadium against fans of the local team.

The incidents led to the death of César Regueiro, 57, and a “Lobo” fan.
