Cecyt 12 students, dissatisfied with the response to their petition; unemployment is expected to continue

The authorities of the Center for Scientific and Technological Studies (Cecyt) 12, of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), delivered their response to the petition from the student community and hoped that in this way the strike that began on October 3 would be lifted, but the students would have rejected the proposal of the directors.
Last Friday, the director of the campus, Carlos García Jaime, sent the dissatisfied students a response to their demands, in which he guaranteed that there will be no reprisals against those who they took school, activities will be rescheduled according to the 48 hours that this strike lasts
and complaints of gender-based violence will be addressed according to the established protocol
.
Similarly, the official promised that the donations
of the students will not be mandatory and it will be reported how the school budget is used, while recalling that reviews of the school infrastructure and reports on the subject are carried out periodically.
He also responded to the points related to transportation for extracurricular activities, teacher training, security measures for students on their way to collective transportation and the right to student organization.
That same Friday, the school management said they trust fully in that by complying in a timely manner with all the requests, the Cecyt facilities are returned to the community on Monday, October 10
but it is outlined that the participants in the taking they will reject the proposal and lengthen the occupation.
According to sources close to the subject, the students were not satisfied with García Jaime’s response, especially because his document mentions that there will be no reprisals for the events that occurred. from October 5
when the taking started on day 3, and why they know that they will not receive responses to the statement at the time
but over several weeks.
At the same time, students from other unemployed Cecyt –such as 2 and 8– released testimonies on social networks of alleged bullying
experienced in recent days, such as being followed by strangers on public transport, which they attribute to their participation in the protests.
On the other hand, the director of the Interdisciplinary Professional Unit of Engineering and Social and Administrative Sciences, Emmanuel González Rogel, reported that the campus facilities were delivered the day before yesterday, after meeting with students and reviewing compliance with their request, for which Classes will restart this Monday.
