Daniel Dhers wins silver medal in BMX Freestyle at the 2022 South American Games

With the triumph of the Venezuelan biker, Venezuela, already accumulates 18 silver medals, for a total of 62, among which are 14 gold and 30 bronze

Venezuelan cyclist Daniel Dhers won a silver medal this Saturday, October 8, in the BMX freestyle final of the 2022 South American Games, held in Asunción, Paraguay.

The athlete obtained a score of 87.33 points, according to the Venezuelan Olympic Committee (COV), falling behind the Argentine José “Maligno” Torres, who was proclaimed champion of the competition, after achieving a higher score, 89.

The third place was occupied by the Brazilian athlete Gustavo Batista, who achieved almost four points less than Dhers.

It is important to note that this is the first time that this cycling discipline enters the South American Games.

In the days leading up to his presentation, Dhers announced on Twitter that, “as is customary,” he would wear a helmet with the name of Venezuela on it and that he hoped they would not cover it up, as they did at the Olympics.

Already this Sunday, October 9, the Venezuelan is in Santiago de Chile, where he will ride a bicycle throughout the city and later he will do a BMX Freestyle exhibition.

“They can come with any type of bicycle,” he made the invitation through his social networks, through which several people have also sent him their congratulations for his participation and victory in the regional sports competition.

Venezuela, after adding this new medal, accumulates 18 silver medals, 14 gold and 30 bronze, in different categories and disciplines. So far, the country remains in fifth place in the medal table of the continental sports event.
