This position comes after President Andrés Manuel López Obrador accused that the suspension of the program occurred as an act of the opposition against public education.
“It is natural that this happens because it is about changes in the content of textbooks and conservatism has always been opposed to public education, to the content of books only when they make them, as happened throughout the neoliberal period” López Obrador said during the morning conference on October 7 at the National Palace.
The president even accused that the PAN was behind the amparo 1457/2022 that obtained a provisional suspension granted by the Sixth District Court in Administrative Matters of Mexico City.
“Further back, then, the PAN, which are surely the ones behind this, opposed the delivery of primary school textbooks during the government of President (Adolfo) López Mateos,” he commented.
