The statue, made by sculptor Alejandro Colina, is now located on a pedestal and surrounded by a small fence.
The administration of Nicolás Maduro inaugurated this Sunday the Plaza Bolívar de Chivacoa, in the Bruzual municipality of Yaracuy state, where the sculpture of María Lionza is now installed, which, according to the Preservation and Development Council of the Central University of Venezuela (Copred -UCV), was stolen from the shed where it was located without any authorization on October 4.
In the act, Held this Saturday, October 8, the Ministers of Culture and Communication and Information, Ernesto Villegas and Freddy Ñáñez, respectively, were present.
That square is located in the town of Quibayo, where there are several groups of spiritists who presumably made, through the Venezuelan Federation of Spiritism, the request for transfer to that region. The governor of Yaracuy, Julio León Heredia, helped with the negotiations.
This event was held a few days before the Candela Dance is held on the Sorte mountain, which is part of the cult of María Lionza, whose statue, made by the sculptor Alejandro Colina, is now located on a pedestal and surrounded by a small close.
Regarding this transfer, Wendy Navarro, a resident of Quibayo, told the allies of Yaracuy Up To Date that in her community they are very happy “for the gift that the queen gave us (in reference to María Lionza) and that the State gave us”, because this means, according to her, that “they are recognizing our culture, which is unique”.
That ceremony will be held in the early hours of October 12 and at least 30,000 people are expected to attend, according to the mayor of the Bruzual municipality, Carlos González, which, again, is where Sorte is.
“We are doing the respective coordination. Hopefully you enjoy with family with a lot of discipline. The Police, the National Guard, Inparques officials and firefighters will be there,” he told the regional media.
