The car company iveco Group, world-renowned for its trucks and tractors, will begin testing compressed natural gas (CNG) engines, in order to start exporting them.
iveco Group works worldwide on a wide range of products, the business sells light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles (IVECO), buses (Heuliez, IVECO Bus), power trains (FPT Industrial) and financial services (IVECO Capital).
the new engines iveco both for trucks and for buses are currently equipped with imported CNG equipment, those manufactured will be destined mainly for export, although also, to a lesser extent, to the local market.
Today, in the Argentine market, one out of every four trucks and buses sold has 1 FPT engine. In turn, one out of every three tractors sold uses an FPT engine and one out of every two domestically produced harvesters uses the same.
In Argentina, the business has a production plant located in the province of Córdoba. Since production began, they have manufactured 167,000 engines and plan to end 2022 with 30,200 more units, which would be equivalent to an increase of 19% compared to 2021.

Santos Doncel Jones, president of Iveco Group Argentina, commented: “We know that Europe is going towards electrification and Argentina is the size of Europe, but if I think about moving a 70-ton truck in an oil well, far from the city, I don’t have a power line”.

In 2019 we launched the first approved Iveco vehicle with CNG and, today, the energy transition conditions that are taking place, together with the friendliest regulations such as CNGthey are a very important alternative in heavy transport”.
